Специально для ребят, имеющих проблемы со слухом, в Костроме работает общеобразовательная школа-интернат. Основанная в 1921 году, она по сегодняшний день принимает детей школьного и дошкольного возраста из 23 муниципальных образований Костромской области. У старших ребят есть масса увлечений, главное из которых – боулинг.

Четыре проекта Московской области по итогам конкурсного отбора получили право на финансовую поддержку Фонда по программе Фонда «В кругу друзей». Министерство социальной защиты населения Московской области представило на конкурс Программу «Семьи с детьми–инвалидами на период 2009–2012 г.» и получило объем финансирования в 2009 г. – 8390,0 тыс. рублей.

The seminar was organised for trainers and teachers of Rehabilitation Centre and Social and Recreational Club “Nadezhda”, specialized correctional schools, boarding schools of Kostromskaya Oblast, sports teachers of secondary and higher educational institutions of the city of Kostroma.

On February 7 a new support pad was opened in the town of Sharye (Kostromskaya Oblast) in the framework of the pilot project “Provision of Local Access to Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for Children with Physical Disabilities in Kostromskaya Oblast”. The support pad will be used by the clients of “Lesnaya Skazka” rehabilitation centre for disabled children and youth. The event was held in commemoration of the Year of Family in the town of Sharye.

The 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games were held in Shanghai, People's Republic of China, from 28th September to 12th October. Among other participants, Russia was represented by the delegation from Kostromskaya Oblast which comprised 18 athletes and 7 coaches competing and training in 7 sports: bowling, badminton, gymnastics, cycling, powerlifting, kayaking, and equestrian.

Through 2010, the Russian Government will allocate a total of 4222 million roubles for the targeted programme aimed at the social protection of people with disabilities.

On October 5, a fully equipped sports ground will be opened in Vyazovsky Psychoneurological Boarding Home (Bazarno-Karbulaksky Region). The construction of the sports ground was the final stage of the project “From Sports Victories to Self-Determination in Life” which won the second regional contest of social and cultural projects sponsored by TNK-BP in Saratovskaya Oblast.

01-10-2007 | Disabled children can no longer be referred to as “invalids”

Disabled children can no longer be called “invalids” (handicapped. Invalid is the term traditionally used in the Russian language in relation to a disabled person), but should be referred to as “children with disabilities”. This term is used by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and is considered more humane and comprehensive.
